Saturday Night Live (SNL) is gearing up to celebrate its 50th anniversary with a star-studded special that will air live from Studio 8H in New York's Rockefeller Center on February 16, 2025.

The anniversary special will feature an impressive lineup of guests, including Adam Driver, Ayo Edebiri, Bad Bunny, Dave Chappelle, John Mulaney, Kim Kardashian, Martin Short, Miley Cyrus, Pedro Pascal, Peyton Manning, Quinta Brunson, Robert De Niro, Sabrina Carpenter, Scarlett Johansson, Steve Martin, Tom Hanks, and Woody Harrelson.

In addition to the guest appearances, the show will showcase performances from notable artists such as Bad Bunny, Paul McCartney, and Lady Gaga, celebrating SNL's rich musical history.

Lorne Michaels, the creator and executive producer of SNL, has been at the helm since its inception in 1975, although he has hinted at potential retirement plans following the 50th season.

Since its debut, SNL has become a cultural phenomenon, winning 101 Emmy Awards and evolving from its original title, "NBC's Saturday Night," to its current name.

The first episode of SNL aired on October 11, 1975, hosted by George Carlin, featuring original cast members like Chevy Chase and Gilda Radner, and musical guests including Billy Preston and Janis Ian.

Scarlett Johansson, a member of the prestigious Five-Timers Club, is confirmed to attend the anniversary special alongside her husband, Weekend Update co-host Colin Jost.

Tom Hanks, another frequent host with ten appearances, last graced the SNL stage during a virtual show in April 2020.

SNL has been on a break since January 25, 2025, when Timothée Chalamet hosted, with no next host announced yet.

Sabrina Carpenter, a rising star and Grammy winner, is also set to participate in the special, adding to the excitement surrounding the event.

Paul McCartney, who has been a musical guest on SNL four times, is among the artists expected to perform during the anniversary celebration.

The show has faced numerous challenges throughout its history, including a complete cast change in 1980, but has consistently managed to reinvent itself and remain relevant.
