James Gunn, the head of DC Studios, has confirmed that a new Wonder Woman movie is currently in development.

However, Gal Gadot, who played Wonder Woman in the previous films, is unlikely to reprise her role in this upcoming project.

Gunn clarified that the new Wonder Woman film will be a separate project from the HBO Max series 'Paradise Lost,' which focuses on Themyscira.

While progress on the Themyscira series is slow, Gunn noted that the new Wonder Woman film is actively being written.

This new project marks a departure from the previous DC universe established by Zack Snyder and moves away from Patty Jenkins' planned third installment.

The sequel, 'Wonder Woman 1984,' released in December 2020, was a disappointment, failing to recoup its budget and dividing critics.

After the mixed reception of the sequel, a third film was put on hold, leaving fans without new content for the character until now.

In addition to the Wonder Woman film, Gunn is overseeing several other DC projects, including a Superman film set to release on July 11, 2025.

Upcoming films also include 'Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow,' scheduled for June 26, 2026, and a horror film titled 'Clayface,' premiering in September 2026.

Gunn hinted that the first wave of DCU projects may relate to the Justice League, although details remain limited.

He also teased plans for another Superman film, which he described as not necessarily a straightforward sequel.

Overall, Gunn is starting fresh with the DC universe, aiming to reintroduce audiences to its iconic characters.
