Creator Rebecca Sugar is returning to develop the sequel, which will center on Lars Barriga, a character who has undergone significant evolution throughout the original series.

Lars, who transformed from a self-centered teenager into the captain of a starship, will now take on the role of a space pirate leading the Off Colors against the oppressive Gem Empire.
