Netflix has officially announced that its adaptation of Emily Henry's best-selling novel 'People We Meet on Vacation' will premiere on January 9, 2026.

The film stars Tom Blyth as Alex and Emily Bader as Poppy, who navigate their complex friendship during a pivotal vacation.

The story revolves around Poppy and Alex, best friends for a decade, who must confront their feelings for each other during their final trip together.

Poppy reaches out to Alex in an attempt to mend their broken relationship and persuade him to join her on one last vacation.

The film is produced by Wyck Godfrey, Marty Bowen, and Isaac Klausner, with Laura Quicksilver, Ted Gidlow, and Emily Henry serving as executive producers.

Brett Haley directs the film, with a screenplay adapted by Yulin Kuang, and the project was confirmed for adaptation in October 2022.

Filming took place in New Orleans and Spain, concluding in October 2024, and features a visual style reminiscent of classic romantic films.

Promotional images from the set have recreated the book cover, generating excitement among fans ahead of the release.

This adaptation marks the first of Emily Henry's novels to be turned into a film, with several others, including 'Beach Read' and 'Book Lovers,' also in development.

Henry's novel, published in 2021, debuted at #1 on the New York Times bestseller list and has sold over 2 million copies in the U.S.

The first teaser for the movie was released on July 1, 2025, showcasing the chemistry between the lead characters and hinting at the film's themes.

The supporting cast includes notable actors such as Sarah Catherine Hook, Jameela Jamil, and Molly Shannon, adding depth to the film.
