The Mighty Nein is set to debut before the highly anticipated fourth season of The Legend of Vox Machina, which is currently in production.

The announcement of The Mighty Nein was made during a panel at San Diego Comic-Con, where fans were treated to clips and character art designs from the series.

The cast features notable guest stars such as Mark Strong, Alan Cumming, Tim McGraw, Anika Noni Rose, Ming-Na Wen, Auli'i Cravalho, Rahul Kohli, Robbie Daymond, and Jonathan Frakes.

The main characters will be voiced by the eight cofounders of Critical Role, ensuring a familiar sound for fans of the original campaign.

Character posters have been released, showcasing the new characters who will form the team known as The Mighty Nein.

Key characters in The Mighty Nein include graffiti artist Jester Lavorre, pirate Fjord, monk/detective Beau Lionett, sorcerer Caleb Widogast, thief Nott, and carnies Mollymauk Tealeaf and Yasha Nydoorin.

This new series is based on Critical Role's second streamed campaign and focuses on a group of outcasts and fugitives who must unite to prevent a powerful arcane relic, known as The Beacon, from falling into dangerous hands.

Showrunner Tasha Huo has emphasized that The Mighty Nein will feature darker and edgier storytelling compared to its predecessor, Vox Machina, while still maintaining continuity within the same universe.

The series is scheduled to premiere on November 19, 2025, and will be available in over 240 countries and territories worldwide.

Both animated series share the same fictional universe and continuity, taking place 20 years apart, which opens the door for potential crossovers.

Matthew Mercer, the Chief Creative Officer of Critical Role, will voice multiple characters, including Esseks Thelyss, and also appears as an interrogating guard.

Critical Role is celebrating its 10-year anniversary this year and continues to expand its lore, having recently announced the development of their first video game.
