U2 Bassist Adam Clayton's Iconic Guitars and Memorabilia to be Auctioned in Nashville
October 20, 2025
Almost 20 of U2 bassist Adam Clayton's bass guitars and memorabilia are set to be auctioned, with an exhibition at The Museum of Style Icons in Newbridge, Ireland, from October 20 to November 9, offering fans a rare glimpse into his musical legacy.
Highlights of the collection include Clayton’s 2014 Fender Jazz Bass used during the Innocence + Experience tour, a 2005 Lakland Joe Osborn J bass, and vintage Fender Jazz Basses from the 1960s and 1970s.
Following the exhibition, the collection will be auctioned in Nashville at the 'PLAYED, WORN, & TORN' event on November 20-21, 2025, at the Musicians Hall of Fame & Museum, with options for in-person, online, telephone, and absentee bidding.
Julien’s Auction, founded in 2003 and known for handling memorabilia from icons like Marilyn Monroe and Michael Jackson, will oversee the sale.
Registration for the auction is open, and bidding can be done online, in person, via telephone, or through absentee bids, with detailed information provided for prospective buyers.
Over 20 items from Clayton’s collection, including gear and memorabilia, will be auctioned, with part of the proceeds supporting MusiCares, a charity dedicated to the health and well-being of the music community.
The event offers a rare opportunity to own a piece of rock history from a 22-time Grammy-winning artist and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, with the exhibition open to the public during its run.
The exhibition is accessible to the public with specific visiting hours, and the auction details, including dates and locations, are available for fans and collectors.
The event is supported by Newbridge Silverware and the Musicians Hall of Fame & Museum, institutions known for their extensive collections of cultural and musical memorabilia.
Clayton has expressed an emotional connection to his collection, noting that each instrument holds personal significance from tours and sessions, and he hopes new owners will cherish them.
Adam Clayton, originally from the UK, is the bassist for U2, a band formed in Dublin in 1976, which has sold over 170 million records worldwide and is currently working on new music.
The collection includes over 20 items such as bass guitars, gear, and memorabilia, many of which were stage-used during U2's global tours and recordings, representing different eras of Clayton’s career.
