Ethereum Surges: $393M Withdrawn from Exchanges, Institutional Investments Soar
June 12, 2025
On June 11, 2025, blockchain analytics firm Sentora reported a significant event in the Ethereum market, noting that over 140,000 ETH, valued at approximately $393 million, was withdrawn from centralized exchanges, marking the largest single-day outflow in over a month.
Historically, such withdrawals are viewed as bullish, as they suggest that investors are moving ETH to cold storage, which reduces sell-side pressure and tightens market supply.
Between June 9 and June 11, Ethereum ETFs saw impressive net inflows of $417.7 million, surpassing Bitcoin ETF inflows of $982 million during the same period, with $240 million of those inflows occurring on June 11 alone.
Crypto analyst Anthony Sassano highlighted that Ethereum ETFs have not experienced a single net outflow day since mid-May, indicating robust demand for Ethereum exposure.
Institutional interest in Ethereum is on the rise, with a report from 21Shares revealing that ETH's foundational role in the decentralized economy led to $150 million of inflows into Ether-based investment products in Europe during May 2025.
This growing institutional investment is contributing to Ethereum's bullish momentum, supported by positive on-chain metrics and an overall market sentiment that reflects increased investor confidence.
In a notable development, SharpLink Gaming, a Nasdaq-listed company, announced a $425 million private placement led by Consensys to establish a large ETH treasury, actively stake ETH, and engage with DeFi, with Consensys CEO Joe Lubin joining SharpLink's board as Chairman to emphasize strategic alignment.
As Ethereum approaches the psychological level of $3,000, a significant resistance zone has been identified at $3,140, where over 3.7 million addresses had previously accumulated ETH, which could intensify selling pressure as they reach breakeven.
