Violence in German schools is escalating with more reports of physical assaults, sexual abuse, and knife attacks in states like Rheinland-Pfalz and Hamburg.

During the 2022/23 school year, Hamburg recorded 261 victims and 296 suspected perpetrators, involving a variety of violent crimes.

The majority of the violent incidents at schools involved male perpetrators aged 14-17.

City schools, where only 27% of students are taught, accounted for nearly half of the violent incidents, while primary schools also experienced a notable increase in violence.
