Recent allegations have surfaced, indicating an unprecedented level of corruption involving high-ranking EU officials.

These allegations were uncovered by the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF) in a confidential report that has since been reviewed by the French newspaper Libération.

Henrik Hololei, the former Director General for Transport in the European Commission, is at the center of this potential corruption scandal linked to Qatar Airways.

The scandal revolves around an 'open skies' agreement that has permitted Qatar Airways access to the entire EU territory since 2021.

Hololei is accused of exchanging confidential information about the EU's negotiating position in return for luxury vacations and gifts for himself and his family.

Concerns have been raised regarding the lack of action on these allegations, as the report has reportedly been on Ursula von der Leyen's desk since July.

Despite the serious nature of these allegations, neither the European Public Prosecutor's Office nor Belgian criminal justice has been engaged by the European Commission.
