Gerard Miller, a well-known French psychoanalyst and media figure, has been charged with sexual assault and rape involving six women, including three minors, with allegations spanning from 2000 to 2020.

Charges include allegations of rape involving minors over 15, with some incidents dating back to 2000 involving a seventh woman, making this a complex case spanning over two decades.

While some cases had to be dismissed due to the statute of limitations, investigations continue, and Miller remains barred from professional contact with minors.

A legal complaint filed last year has led to testimonies from around 20 women describing sexual misconduct following hypnosis sessions, alcohol-fueled evenings, or professional meetings, with victims aged 14 to 25.

Miller is under judicial supervision, which includes a €65,000 bail, mandatory therapy, and bans on practicing psychoanalysis or engaging with minors, along with restrictions on contact with victims and witnesses.

Allegations involve Miller inviting women, some from television audiences, to spend time with him and then assaulting or raping them, often after offering alcohol or hypnotizing them.

The investigation was prompted by testimonies from women claiming Miller committed acts of sexual violence during hypnosis sessions at his home, which he denies, asserting no coercion was involved.

Miller, aged 77, has been banned from practicing psychoanalysis, contacting minors, and appearing on television following the charges.

His case has garnered media attention and highlights ongoing issues of sexual violence and accountability within fields like psychoanalysis and psychotherapy.

The case is part of a broader wave of #MeToo-related accusations in France, with other prominent figures such as Gerard Depardieu and Benoit Jacquot facing similar allegations.

Miller was detained for 48 hours at the Paris Brigade for the Protection of Minors before being formally charged with multiple counts of rape and sexual assault, including on minors and adults.
