Cammas and Laperche Sail SVR-Lazartigue to Victory in Transat Café L’Or Ultim Category
November 6, 2025
In the Transat Café L’Or, SVR-Lazartigue won the Ultim category, marking the project’s first major triumph four years after its launch, with Cammas securing his fifth overall win at the event and Laperche earning his first Transat victory.
The winning duo, Tom Laperche and Franck Cammas, completed the race in Fort-de-France after about 11 days at sea, finishing in the night, and covering roughly 6,490 nautical miles at an average speed around 25.65 knots.
Coville and Schwartz completed the course in strong form, finishing roughly four hours and 26 minutes behind the winners.
The race featured weather-driven routing challenges, including early technical stops and adjustments around the Pot-au-noir that affected standings across Ocean Fifty, IMOCA, and Class 40 divisions.
Laperche, aged 28, becomes the youngest Ultim skipper to win the Transat Café L’Or, following two prior runner-up finishes in 2021 and 2023, and is hailed as a rising star within the SVR Lazartigue project.
Sodebo Ultim 3, skippered by Thomas Coville and Benjamin Schwartz, finished second, about 133 miles behind the leaders, with an official finish around 9:30 p.m. local time.
The leaders forged an early advantage and managed the Canary Islands, Cape Verde, and doldrums with disciplined risk management to maintain the lead.
In IMOCA, the frontrunners were a tight trio—Charal, Macif and 11th Hour Racing—with Charal holding a slim lead at the 18:00 mark mid-race.
SVR-Lazartigue’s 32-meter maxi-trimaran logged a dominant performance, finishing 6,490.10 nautical miles at an average 25.65 knots from Le Havre to Martinique.
Other top contenders, including Sodebo and Actual, were poised to challenge for podium spots, while Banque Populaire retired early after a problem on Safran.
The favorable winds and strategic decisions across the Atlantic crossing enabled Cammas and Laperche to extend their lead as night fell over Fort-de-France.
The victory adds to Cammas’s storied career and marks a clear succession for the SVR Lazartigue project, underscored by a strong partnership with Laperche.
