Nothing Launches Ear (a) Earbuds with ChatGPT Integration, Rivaling AirPods
April 18, 2024
British tech brand Nothing, led by co-founder Carl Pei, introduces two new wireless earbud models, the Ear and Ear (a), priced at $149 and $99.
The Ear (a) model, at $99, stands out for its impressive sound quality, effective noise cancellation, and competitive battery life, challenging higher-priced competitors like Apple's AirPods.
Notable features of both models include up to 45db active noise cancellation, improved battery life, and 11mm drivers, with the Ear model also supporting high-res audio over Bluetooth.
The Ear (a) lacks Qi wireless charging for its case, which is seen as a disadvantage amidst its positive reception.
Nothing integrates ChatGPT into its earbuds, enabling direct access to the AI chatbot through a pinch interaction on the stem, with compatibility on Nothing smartphones and upcoming support on other models.
Both earbud models are designed with durability in mind, having IP54 dust and water resistance for the earbuds and an IPX2 rating for the Ear (a) case.
Pre-orders for the new earbuds are live on the Nothing website, with general availability starting April 22.
CEO Carl Pei hints at future updates, including bringing ChatGPT integration to older Nothing earbud models through software enhancements.
