Dexcom G7 Now Connects Directly to Apple Watch, Enhances Glucose Monitoring Freedom
June 5, 2024
Dexcom has released a software update for its G7 continuous glucose monitor.
The update enables direct connectivity to Apple Watch Series 6 or later.
This feature allows users in the U.S., U.K., and Ireland to monitor blood sugar levels on their watch without needing their iPhone nearby.
The G7 can now connect to multiple devices simultaneously, including smartphones, CGM receivers, and Apple Watches.
Users need a G7, an Apple Watch Series 6 or later, and an iPhone running iOS 17 or later to utilize this feature.
Dexcom is considering adding support for Android and Samsung watches in the future.
The company plans to launch the Stelo, an over-the-counter CGM for individuals with type 2 diabetes not on insulin therapy.
This update may encourage G6 users to upgrade to the G7 system.
