While it claims the title of thinnest, the Magic V5 is actually thicker than its predecessor, the Magic V3, primarily due to a noticeable camera bump.

When folded, the Magic V5 measures 8.8mm, and when unfolded, it ranges from 4.1mm to 4.2mm, depending on the color, with a total weight between 217g and 222g.

This new model features a significant battery upgrade, boasting a 6,100mAh battery for the Chinese market and a 5,820mAh version for international markets, while maintaining fast charging capabilities.

Camera enhancements include a 50MP f/1.6 wide-angle lens, a 50MP f/2.0 ultrawide lens (upgraded from 40MP), and a new 70mm f/2.5 telephoto lens with a 64MP sensor.

For selfies, the device is equipped with dual 20MP f/2.2 cameras on each display, ensuring high-quality front-facing photography.

Display specifications remain impressive, featuring a 6.43-inch cover screen and a 7.95-inch inner screen, both utilizing 120Hz LTPO OLED technology with peak brightness of 5,000 nits.

The design of the Magic V5 includes a flatter frame for improved handling, while still maintaining a similar aesthetic to its predecessor.

A standout feature of the Magic V5 is Yoyo, an AI agent that can create presentation decks from articles and manage ride-hailing orders by interfacing with other AI agents.

Pricing for the Magic V5 ranges from CNY 8,999 to CNY 10,999, which translates to approximately $1,255 to $1,535.

Despite a general decline in consumer demand, the foldable smartphone market in China has experienced growth, with a 53.1% year-on-year increase in shipments.

As manufacturers face diminishing returns in foldable phone thickness, innovation in other areas will be crucial to maintain consumer interest in future models.
