Wireless Charging Revolution: Qi2.2 Powers Up to 25W, Boosting iPhone 16 to 50% in 30 Minutes
July 17, 2025
The latest iPhone 16 can now utilize 25W charging with the newest MagSafe charger and a 30W power adapter, allowing it to reach 50% charge in just 30 minutes, a significant improvement over the previous 15W MagSafe.
Since April 2025, the Qi2.2 standard has been recognized, enabling power transfers up to 25W for faster wireless charging while maintaining magnetic connection features.
The Qi wireless charging standard, initially established in 2010 with a 5W power limit, has evolved significantly, now supporting up to 15W and incorporating the Qi2 standard, which features Apple's MagSafe design for easier device alignment.
Several third-party companies like UGREEN, Scosche, Anker, and AUKEY are developing products supporting Qi2.2, although these are not yet available on the market.
Currently, only Apple's iPhone 12 and newer models support the Qi2 standard, with limited adoption among Android devices, indicating a need for broader industry acceptance.
