John Carpenter Brings Michael Myers Back: Two New Halloween Games in Development with Unreal Engine 5
August 12, 2024
Two new Halloween games are in development, one of which will utilize Unreal Engine 5, with John Carpenter being 'intimately involved' in the production.
Carpenter, a self-identified 'huge gamer,' expressed his excitement about bringing Michael Myers back to life in these new games.
While no release date has been announced, the games are expected to feature asynchronous multiplayer gameplay, similar to Dead by Daylight.
Development is still in the early stages, and there are currently no confirmed release dates for either of the Halloween video game projects.
Despite not directing films recently, Carpenter remains engaged with the Halloween franchise as an executive producer.
Steve Harris, CEO of Boss Team Games, emphasized the team's passion for horror and their honor in collaborating with Carpenter and producer Malek Akkad.
Players will have the opportunity to relive iconic moments from the Halloween series and play as classic characters.
In addition to the Halloween projects, a new card game titled Dungeons & Degenerate Gamblers has launched on Steam, designed to heighten traditional blackjack gameplay.
The upcoming interactive horror movie, The Casting of Frank Stone, is also in development by Supermassive Games, set in a town plagued by a killer.
Currently, the only Halloween-themed game available is Dead By Daylight, which does not fully capture the essence of the franchise.
Carpenter has a history of discussing his interest in video games and has expressed desires to adapt video games into films.
John Carpenter's close involvement in the development of the games is expected to ensure authenticity to his original vision.
