Elden Ring Surpasses 30 Million Sales; Spin-off 'Nightreign' Launches Soon
April 28, 2025
From Software has announced that Elden Ring has surpassed 30 million copies sold globally since its launch in February 2022.
In a remarkable sales surge, the game sold an additional 1.4 million copies in just four months, from December 2024 to April 2025.
The game's success has been bolstered by its acclaimed expansion, Shadow of the Erdtree, which is recognized as the highest-rated DLC of all time according to Metacritic.
While Nightreign aims to provide a unique experience, it is unlikely to replicate the groundbreaking success of Elden Ring, which captivated players upon its initial release.
In addition to its main title, a spin-off cooperative game titled Elden Ring Nightreign is set to launch on May 30, 2025, featuring a multiplayer roguelike format.
The milestone was celebrated on social media, with a heartfelt message to fans stating, 'Thank you, 30 million Tarnished,' and the figure was confirmed on April 29, 2025.
Released in June 2023, Shadow of the Erdtree introduced new story content and quickly sold five million copies within three days.
Both Elden Ring and its DLC have received critical acclaim, successfully adapting the challenging gameplay of the Dark Souls series into an open-world format.
Despite its overwhelming success, From Software has confirmed that there are currently no plans for a direct sequel to Elden Ring, with Shadow of the Erdtree being its only DLC.
Looking ahead, Elden Ring's sales are expected to rise further with its upcoming release on the Nintendo Switch 2, announced earlier this month.
Nightreign will offer a fast-paced co-op action experience, where players must survive three nights in a battle royale-style gameplay.
Importantly, players do not need to have played Elden Ring to enjoy Nightreign, as it introduces its own classes and skills.
