May 9, 2025
The company is also focused on establishing a local team in New York to strengthen partnerships with U.S. game companies and explore new entertainment opportunities.
Leo Matlock, BLAST's Chief Business Officer, emphasized the company's long-term commitment to the U.S. esports market, highlighting the importance of this new hub.
Matlock is relocating from Copenhagen to oversee the New York office and develop a local team to enhance BLAST's presence in the region.
The upcoming Counter-Strike Major in Austin will feature 32 teams competing for a substantial prize pool of $1.25 million.
This New York office will serve as BLAST's North American hub, where it plans to host five major events throughout 2025, including a Counter-Strike 2 Major in Austin, Texas, and a Fortnite Pro-Am in Los Angeles.
The U.S. esports market is thriving, valued at over $1.3 billion, with more than $10 million in prize pools for tournaments held across the country.
While BLAST has previously produced events in the U.S., such as the Rainbow Six Major in Atlanta, this represents its first formal expansion into the American esports market.
By the end of 2025, BLAST aims to hold 15 arena events across five continents as part of its global expansion strategy.
The expansion will enable BLAST to collaborate more closely with U.S.-based content creators, streamers, and talent agencies for original content and event integrations.
Matlock reiterated that the New York office signifies a long-term investment in the U.S. market, building on six years of commitment to U.S. esports since 2019.
Danish esports tournament organizer BLAST has officially opened a new office in New York City, marking a significant step in its expansion into the United States.
BLAST has a strong history of collaboration with major gaming companies and brands, including Ubisoft, Epic Games, Valve, Riot, Nike, TikTok, and NASCAR.
