Nintendo Switch 2 to Launch with GameCube Classics and Exclusive Wireless Controller
May 9, 2025
Nintendo has officially announced that the GameCube library for the Switch Online will launch on June 5, 2025, coinciding with the release of the highly anticipated Switch 2.
On launch day, players can look forward to three confirmed GameCube titles: The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, Soulcalibur 2, and F-Zero GX.
However, access to these GameCube titles will be exclusive to owners of the Switch 2, even for those who subscribe to Switch Online + Expansion Pack.
Nintendo has plans to expand the GameCube library over time, following a similar strategy to its previous classic libraries for NES, SNES, N64, and SEGA.
Additional GameCube titles are expected to be added in the future, including fan favorites such as Super Mario Sunshine, Super Mario Strikers, Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, Luigi’s Mansion, Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness, Pokémon Colosseum, and Chibi-Robo.
To enhance the gaming experience, a new wireless GameCube controller will also be exclusive to the Switch 2, allowing players to enjoy these classic titles with an authentic feel.
