The upcoming DLC for the acclaimed city builder game Against The Storm, titled Nightwatchers, is set to launch on July 31, 2025, across multiple platforms including Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store, and Microsoft Store.

Nightwatchers introduces a new seventh playable species called the Bats, who are humanoid creatures skilled in metallurgy and possess unique abilities like the 'Manorial Court' that can expel other species from settlements.

This DLC also features two new biomes: the Rocky Ravine, a resource-rich but barren area inhabited by merciless merchants, and the Bamboo Flats, a rainy region where players must manage a giant Fluffbeak to produce fertilizer.

The Bats, known for their strong convictions about the greater good, thrive on failure and can influence gameplay by expelling other species, adding a new strategic layer.

Alongside the new species and biomes, Nightwatchers will introduce new orders, world events, rewards, and original music, coinciding with the game's 1.8 update that adds features like a Smoldering City upgrade and a legendary cornerstone.

The DLC's press release highlights the Bats' ability to motivate remaining workers by expelling others, emphasizing their unique role in settlement management.

Against The Storm has been highly successful, selling over 1.5 million copies since launch, and is praised for its engaging gameplay and strategic depth.

Developer Eremite Studios is currently hosting an open alpha for players to experience the new content before the official release, which will last 4-6 weeks without offering rewards.

Players can expect a mix of gameplay mechanics centered around resource management and the new bat faction, especially focusing on the giant Fluffbeak's contributions.
