Valve has released a major update for CS2 coinciding with the start of Premier Season Three, which includes the return of the iconic Overpass map to the Active Duty pool, replacing Anubis, marking the first change to the map pool in 2025.

Overpass has been reintroduced to the Active Duty map pool, replacing Anubis, which was known as the most T-sided map in 2025, and this change is expected to influence both ranked matchmaking and professional play.

The update, released on July 15, 2025, also features visual improvements to Overpass, enhancing its tactical play and making it a popular addition among players.

Alongside map changes, the update adjusts the CT-side economy by introducing a new $50 team reward for each Terrorist eliminated, regardless of the round outcome, potentially altering economic strategies in competitive matches.

This new cash bonus system aims to impact buying strategies, with a consistent $50 reward for CTs per Terrorist kill, which could influence eco rounds and overall gameplay dynamics.

Valve has added a new security feature allowing players to revoke all item trades from the past seven days, helping to combat scams and improve account security.

Gameplay adjustments include a buff to the Incendiary Grenade, allowing it to spread fire more rapidly, and a nerf to the MP9, increasing recoil and reducing jumping accuracy, making it less effective in eco rounds.

The MP9's nerf, with increased recoil and decreased jumping accuracy, aims to balance its use in competitive play, while the incendiary buff enhances tactical options.

This update marks the first change to the competitive map pool in 2025, following the earlier introduction of a revamped Train map, replacing Vertigo earlier this year.
