Division 2 PTS Unveils New Exotic Gear, Dark Zone Overhaul, and PvP Balance Updates
August 13, 2026
The gear, weapons, and talents are expanding with new items like the Exotic Fafnir shotgun and Exotic Loaded for Bear gloves, the Ember Engine gear set with the Spontaneous Combustion Talent, two new Named gear pieces (Trick Shot, Rushdown, Melon Baller, Keeper) and two new Named weapons, along with the Iron Will Exotic Chest slot introduced via the Determined change.
New named items and talents introduce unique effects such as ammo generation from Trick Shot, cooldown reduction from mark-based Rushdown, and headshot-damage boosts from Melon Baller, among others.
The Iron Will Exotic Chest shifts Determined-like functionality to the chest slot and enables combos with MMRs, while enhancing buffed marksman-related brands and gear to stay competitive.
The Red Horizon Public Test Server for The Division 2 runs on PC via Ubisoft Connect from August 14 to August 17, 2026, with an approximate build size around 100 GB.
A PTS-only setup unlocks all modifiers at the start, and Adam Shipley’s inventory provides access to experimental gear, materials, and journey caches for testing, with feedback channels open on The Division Discord.
The PTS explicitly notes that all modifiers are unlocked from the start for testing and directs players to share feedback on The Division official Discord.
Dark Zone updates introduce a Blackout Dark Zone (uncapped, no stat normalization, with global PvP balance and Rogue Protocol) and a permanent Toxic Dark Zone (PvE-focused with some PvP adjustments), plus weekly DZ rotations and loot changes.
In addition, Dark Zone updates feature weekly rotating variants across DZ West, East, and South, alongside adjustments to loot and mechanics.
Modifiers include the global Under Pressure system with a fillable Pressure Gauge that grants bonuses at thresholds, plus three Active Modifiers (Fiery Aura, Vicarious Combustion, Signed, Shield, Delivered) with no cooldowns and gauge reset on use, alongside a broad set of Passive Modifiers that affect gauge gain and decay.
A broad set of Passive Modifiers further tune Gauge dynamics, affecting how bonuses are earned and how they scale with play.
Global PvP balance updates address Skills, Gear, Brand Sets, and Talents to reduce instant-kill dynamics and enhance build diversity, with full lists linked for detail.
The patch emphasizes broader PvP balance changes to promote varied builds, with detailed lists available externally.
