Can Uzun has been in exceptional form for Frankfurt, scoring six goals and providing four assists in seven matches, making him the team's top scorer.

The 18-year-old offensive player transferred to Eintracht Frankfurt from Nürnberg in 2024 for over ten million euros, after being highly sought after.

Uzun made his debut for Turkey's senior national team in March 2024, highlighting his decision to represent Turkey.

At 19, Uzun chose to represent Turkey at the senior level after a promising start at Frankfurt, where he scored five goals and assisted three in five Bundesliga matches.

Before his decision, Uzun was eligible to play for both Turkey and Germany, but he ultimately opted for Turkey, making three official appearances for the Turkish national team.

Uzun's decision to play for Turkey last year after careful consideration now prevents him from switching to the German team.

The DFB's Rettig stated that once a player and their family decide on a national team, the federation respects that choice and wishes Uzun well.

Despite efforts by the German Football Association to attract Uzun, they acknowledged his decision with respect.
