The owners of Mid Pines Inn & Golf Club and Pine Needles Lodge & Golf Club in North Carolina have announced a joint venture with Marine & Lawn Hotels & Resorts to undertake significant renovations of their hotel accommodations.

These properties have been in the Bell family since 1953, with the current ownership now comprising the Miller, McGowan, and Tharani families.

Although the golf courses are highly regarded, the hotels have lagged in modern amenities, characterized by a nostalgic yet outdated charm.

Marine & Lawn will take charge of managing the hotels and their food and beverage programs, ensuring that golf operations continue seamlessly during the renovations.

Kelly Miller, president and CEO of the ownership group, highlighted that previous partners had proposed demolishing the existing hotel, but the families insisted on preserving the historical integrity of the properties.

Both Mid Pines and Pine Needles, designed by renowned architect Donald Ross in the 1920s, are celebrated golf courses that have hosted prestigious events, including four U.S. Women’s Opens.

Miller expressed enthusiasm for the renovation initiative, underscoring the necessity for upgrades to the lodging facilities and food services.

Renovations at Mid Pines are set to commence this fall and are anticipated to last six to eight months, with plans in place to maintain uninterrupted golf operations throughout.

This partnership marks Marine & Lawn's first hotel venture in the U.S., as the division of AJ Capital specializes in restoring hotels located near iconic golf courses.
