A major focus of the conference was establishing 'geroscience' as the preferred, scientifically rigorous term to describe the discipline, aiming for broad acceptance across the community.

Speakers emphasized the importance of creating a unified, globally recognized terminology to enhance clarity among scientists, policymakers, healthcare providers, and the public.

Efforts to develop consensus on terminology are led by Nir Barzilai and Risa Starr from the Longevity Biotech Association and the Academy for Health and Lifespan Research.

The initiative includes launching toolkits, a speakers bureau, and a resource hub at geroscience.com to promote the term and facilitate communication among stakeholders.

The overarching goal is to mainstream geroscience, expand its reach, and build a coalition of voices to support its societal and public health impact.

Looking ahead, plans are underway for a 2026 roundtable involving pharmaceutical, biotech, and investor communities to further align efforts and promote geroscience.
