The family of British couple Lindsay and Craig Foreman from East Sussex has urgently requested a meeting with the UK Foreign Secretary after the couple was suddenly taken to a Tehran courtroom without prior notice, raising concerns about the fairness of their trial.

The family reports that Lindsay was seen by Iranian ambassador Hugo Shorter, who provided her with essential supplies, but they remain anxious about the couple's treatment and access to legal and financial resources.

Lindsay and Craig Foreman were detained in Iran in January during a motorcycle tour and are accused of espionage, which they deny.

The UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) is actively raising the case with Iranian authorities, providing consular assistance, and has advised against travel to Iran due to the risks of arrest and detention.

Craig Foreman has been held in Iran's Evin Prison for over 25 days without access to funds or adequate food, with his family worried about his health due to weight loss and poor conditions.

The family is particularly concerned because Craig was last seen over a month ago and has been moved to one of Iran’s harshest prisons, with limited access to essentials.

Craig's son, Joe Bennett, expressed deep concern over the lack of transparency, noting that Craig has been detained for more than three and a half months without sufficient funds or proper nutrition, leading to significant weight loss.

The UK government continues to provide consular support and is urging diplomatic intervention to secure the couple’s safe return to the UK.
