Larsen & Toubro (L&T), an Indian engineering and construction giant, has secured significant infrastructure orders in the Middle East through its Power Transmission & Distribution division.

The division has been awarded contracts valued between Rs 2,500 crore and Rs 5,000 crore (approximately $281.66 million to $563.32 million), focusing on grid infrastructure projects.

These projects are part of a broader initiative to develop a 400kV super grid interconnection among GCC countries, aimed at improving generation capacity and grid resilience.

The regional interconnection includes establishing new substations and transmission lines, such as a 400kV substation in the UAE and additional 132kV substations across the Middle East.

L&T's contracts also involve constructing 380kV overhead transmission lines in Saudi Arabia to support renewable energy integration, along with building new substations to meet rising electricity demand.

These developments underscore L&T's expanding footprint in Middle Eastern power infrastructure, bolstering regional energy connectivity.

Additional contracts include building new 132kV substations across the Middle East and constructing 380kV overhead transmission lines in Saudi Arabia to support renewable energy projects.

Specifically, in Saudi Arabia, L&T has received a turnkey contract for 380kV transmission lines, further emphasizing its role in supporting renewable energy integration.

In the UAE, L&T will design, procure, and build a 400kV substation to connect directly with Oman, part of a project to enhance regional power interconnection and capacity.

This project involves expanding the existing Oman-UAE interconnection, which currently operates at 220kV with a capacity of 400 MW, by constructing two 400kV substations in Oman and the UAE and upgrading the Al-Sila substation.
