Montgomery's contract has a vesting player option for 2025, also worth $25 million, with performance incentives based on the number of starts.

The left-handed pitcher is coming off a key role in the Texas Rangers' World Series win last season.

The deal, which is contingent upon a successful physical, strengthens the Diamondbacks' rotation alongside Zac Gallen, Merrill Kelly, and Eduardo Rodríguez.

The New York Yankees had shown interest in Montgomery before he finalized his agreement with the Diamondbacks.
