Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Jakob Junis has been placed on the 15-day injured list due to a right shoulder impingement.

The placement on the injured list for Junis is retroactive to the preceding Wednesday.

Left-hander Aaron Ashby is being promoted from Triple-A Nashville to fill Junis' role in the rotation.

Ashby is slated to start on Monday against the Cincinnati Reds.

Junis experienced shoulder tightness during his last start but has no structural damage according to imaging tests.

Brewers manager Pat Murphy sees the injured list move as a precaution, expecting Junis' absence to be brief.

Aaron Ashby is returning from a left shoulder surgery he underwent in April 2023.
