Geraldo Perdomo, All-Star shortstop for the Arizona Diamondbacks, is scheduled for knee surgery on Monday.

Perdomo's surgery is to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee, sidelining him for six to eight weeks.

Kevin Newman has been called up from Triple-A Reno to bolster the team's roster during Perdomo's absence.

Rookie Blaze Alexander is expected to fill the shortstop position while Perdomo recovers.

The Diamondbacks are dealing with multiple injuries, including to top prospect Jordan Lawlar, but remain confident in adjusting their lineup accordingly.
