Arizona Diamondbacks' pitcher Merrill Kelly is out for at least a month due to a shoulder injury.

Kelly was placed on the 15-day injured list after being scratched from a scheduled start, with his IL stint retroactive to April 20.

While MRIs indicated no need for surgery, a return timeline is uncertain, with doubt cast over his availability before the mid-July All-Star break.

This season, Kelly holds a 2-0 record and a 2.19 ERA, contributing significantly since joining the Diamondbacks in 2019.

Tommy Henry and Andrew Saalfrank have been recalled from Triple-A Reno to fill the roster spots of Kelly and the injured reliever Miguel Castro.

The injury follows a notable 2023 postseason performance by Kelly, who experienced discomfort during a throwing session.
