On July 4, 2025, the Cincinnati Reds activated third baseman Noelvi Marte and reliever Graham Ashcraft from the injured list, just in time for their game against the Philadelphia Phillies.

Marte, 23, had been sidelined since early May due to a grade two oblique strain, during which he managed a batting average of .294 with three home runs and 17 RBIs over 19 games.

While Marte was recovering from his oblique strain, Ashcraft was out with a right groin injury sustained on June 15, having previously recorded a 5-4 record and a 4.19 ERA in 29 relief appearances this season.

Ashcraft, 27, had not pitched since mid-June but was cleared to return to the mound without needing a live bullpen session.

Manager Terry Francona commended Marte for his hard work and determination during his rehabilitation, highlighting his strong performance in Triple-A prior to his return.

Marte expressed confidence in his comeback, emphasizing his commitment to the team's success and adherence to their rehabilitation guidance.

To make room for Marte and Ashcraft on the roster, the Reds optioned utility player Ryan Vilade and pitcher Sam Benschoter to Triple-A Louisville.

The Reds were set to face the Phillies at 1:05 PM ET, with Andrew Abbott taking the mound as the starting pitcher.

In his first game back, Marte started at third base and batted seventh against the Phillies.
