Milwaukee Brewers pitcher José Quintana injured his calf during a game against the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday after pitching four innings in a 3-2 loss.

The 36-year-old left-hander has an 11-7 record with a 3.96 ERA in 24 starts this season, having previously posted a 10-10 record with a 3.75 ERA for the New York Mets last year.

Quintana was seen leaving the game in a boot and is undergoing an MRI, raising concerns given the team's existing injury issues in the bullpen and on the mound.

The injury occurred while Quintana was covering first base during a play involving a grounder that bounced off the first baseman, Jake Bauers, near the foul line.

The Brewers, NL Central leaders who clinched a playoff spot the day before, are already dealing with multiple injured pitchers, including All-Star closer Trevor Megill and others.
