Inter Miami CF is close to finalizing the signing of Rodrigo De Paul from Atlético Madrid, with the deal expected to be completed before the MLS secondary transfer window opens on July 24, 2025.

The future of Sergio Busquets at Inter Miami is uncertain as he may retire at the end of the season, potentially opening up a Designated Player spot for De Paul.

To accommodate De Paul's signing, Inter Miami must navigate their salary cap situation, which is complicated by their current roster of three Designated Players: Messi, Busquets, and Jordi Alba.

De Paul’s move is somewhat unexpected since he was a key starter at Atlético Madrid, contributing three goals and ten assists in 53 matches during the 2024/25 season.
