Chicago Fire has secured the future of their rising star goalkeeper, 21-year-old Chris Brady, by signing him to a contract that extends through the 2029 MLS season with an option for 2030, amidst ongoing European transfer rumors.

Brady, who has set club records with 87 appearances and 18 clean sheets, was also named to the U.S. National Team roster for the 2025 Gold Cup, highlighting his rising profile.

Since debuting in 2022, Brady has been a key player for the Fire, making 96 MLS starts and earning recognition including a salary raise in his new deal.

Pineda, a Chicago native and former academy player, has made 149 appearances for the Fire since 2020, earning the 2020 Defensive Player of the Year award, and signed through 2027 with an option for 2028.

The Fire’s focus on local talent is evident, with 14 players from Chicago, including nine from their academy, currently on the roster.

Midfielder Sergio Oregel Jr., from Chicago, has developed significantly, signing through 2028 with an option for 2029 after becoming a regular starter in 2025 and helping the U.S. U-20 team qualify for the 2024 FIFA World Cup.

The club announced multi-year contracts for Brady, Oregel Jr., and Mauricio Pineda, emphasizing their importance to the team’s future and development.

Pineda, a versatile midfielder and center back, has made 149 appearances and signed through 2027 with an option for 2028, reflecting his key role since 2020.

In addition, 17-year-old Owen Pratt, a former LA Galaxy prospect, will become a homegrown player in 2027, seen as Brady’s potential successor.

Brady, a Naperville native, has represented the U.S. at youth levels, winning the Golden Glove at the 2022 CONCACAF U-20 Championship, and is considered a cornerstone for the club.

Pineda, 27, has been a mainstay in the Fire’s defense, with 149 MLS appearances, and his latest contract, signed in 2023, keeps him with the club through 2026 with an option for 2027.

Sergio Oregel Jr., 20, has become a key midfielder, with 24 starts in 2025, and his contract was extended through 2028 with an option for 2029 after a breakout season.

These contract extensions underscore the Fire’s commitment to nurturing local talent and securing their core players long-term.
