Juwan Howard, former University of Michigan head coach, has been hired as an assistant coach for the Brooklyn Nets.

Howard will be working under the new head coach Jordi Fernandez.

He boasts 19 years of NBA playing experience and two championships with the Miami Heat, followed by a stint on their coaching staff.

After serving five years as Michigan's head coach, Howard was fired in March.

Howard had previously received interest from the Lakers but opted to coach his sons at Michigan.

His return to the NBA is aimed at bolstering the Brooklyn Nets, who had a disappointing season with a 32-50 record.
