Kansas has undergone a significant roster overhaul following its third consecutive early exit from the NCAA Tournament in 2025, leading head coach Bill Self to prioritize homegrown talent over transfers.

The new roster features six freshmen, a stark contrast to the previous season's reliance on transfers, which resulted in disappointing performance despite having the nation's No. 3 transfer class.

On June 25, 2025, the Jayhawks finalized their roster by adding former NC State commitment Paul Mbiya and top-100 wing Kohl Rosario, signaling a strategic shift towards a younger team led by No. 1 overall prospect Darryn Peterson.

Mbiya and Rosario are expected to complement Peterson, who will serve as the primary offensive driver; Mbiya is anticipated to be an elite rim protector, while Rosario brings athleticism and floor spacing capabilities.

However, Kansas currently has only one proven outside shooter, Jayden Dawson, who transferred from Loyola Chicago and hit 36.3% of his 3-point attempts last season, raising concerns about the team's perimeter shooting.

Despite the promising talent in Peterson, Mbiya, Rosario, and Bidunga, Kansas must effectively create spacing and chemistry, as both Mbiya and Bidunga are non-shooting bigs that could complicate floor dynamics.
