Kinopoisk, which is often compared to Russia's version of Netflix, will host the project, although details regarding its availability in English or for international audiences remain uncertain.

The documentary is expected to delve into Ovechkin's remarkable longevity and success in the NHL, including his fierce rivalry with Sidney Crosby and his triumph with the Capitals.

The collaboration was officially announced on August 5, 2025, and will be produced through Yandex's streaming platform, Kinopoisk.

Having been drafted first overall by the Capitals in 2004, Ovechkin has spent his entire NHL career with the team, debuting in 2005 and serving as captain since January 2010.

Earlier this spring, Ovechkin made headlines by breaking Wayne Gretzky's long-standing career goals record, achieving a total of 897 goals.
