Irish actor Jamie Dornan and friend Gordon Smart were hospitalized in Portugal during a golf trip.

The initial suspicion was heart attack but it was later found to be symptoms from contact with toxic pine processionary caterpillars.

Smart experienced tingling in his left hand and arm, leading to a high heart rate of 210 BPM.

Dornan suffered a severe allergic reaction and numbness in his limbs.

The caterpillars release irritating hairs that can cause rashes, allergic reactions and potentially heart attacks.

Both men survived the encounter, expressing gratitude for their fortunate outcome.
