A nurse at the hospital in Abrantes has been suspended and is under criminal investigation for filming vulnerable patients without consent and mistreating them.

The ULS Médio Tejo acted promptly after receiving an anonymous email with the illicit videos, by suspending the nurse, beginning a disciplinary process, and notifying the authorities.

Efforts are underway to identify the affected patients to offer them support, and the hospital has issued an apology for the distress caused by the incident.

The hospital's Board is taking measures to enhance security and staff training to prevent future incidents of this nature.
