NDMA, AcSIR, and CSIR–NIScPR Unite to Boost India's Disaster Resilience Through Research and Policy Collaboration

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed among NDMA, AcSIR, and CSIR–NIScPR to promote academic programmes, interdisciplinary research, and policy engagement in Disaster Management and Risk Reduction, aiming to strengthen India’s disaster resilience.
CSIR–NIScPR Director Dr. Geetha Vani Rayasam stressed connecting scientific knowledge with policy decisions and public awareness through effective science communication.
NDMA will provide strategic direction and domain expertise, focusing on linking research with societal preparedness, improving early warning, risk communication, and post-disaster documentation.
Capacity-building initiatives will strengthen institutional frameworks and community-level disaster response mechanisms.
Dinesh Kumar Aswal of NDMA highlighted bridging the gap between the scientific and policy communities as a core objective of the MoU.
Aswal described the MoU as creating a bridge between scientists and policy professionals to address evolving disaster challenges.
