SpaceX Set for Starlink 10-6 Launch: 23 Satellites to Boost Global Internet
August 1, 2024
SpaceX is preparing to launch its Starlink 10-6 mission, which will deploy 23 Starlink satellites into low Earth orbit, from NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
The Falcon 9 rocket is positioned at Launch Complex 39A for this mission, with the launch window opening at 12:19 a.m. EDT on August 2, 2024.
If the launch is delayed, backup opportunities are available until 4:19 a.m. on the same day.
The weather forecast indicates a 95% chance of favorable conditions for the launch, with minimal risk of violations.
This mission will enhance SpaceX's growing mega-constellation of Starlink satellites, aiming to improve global internet services.
The payload consists of 23 Starlink satellites designed to provide high-speed internet connectivity.
The Falcon 9's first-stage booster, tail number B1078, will be making its 12th flight, having previously supported various missions, including multiple Starlink launches.
After stage separation, the first-stage booster is expected to land on the droneship 'A Shortfall of Gravitas' in the Atlantic Ocean about eight minutes post-launch.
With this launch, SpaceX will have deployed over 6,800 Starlink satellites, with more than 6,200 currently operational.
News 6 plans to stream the launch live on their website, and for those unable to attend, a livestream will also be available on various platforms, including SpaceX's X account.
In addition to the Starlink launch, SpaceX is preparing for a cargo resupply mission to the International Space Station over the same weekend.
