NASA's Tracy C. Dyson to Discuss Landmark ISS Mission in Live October 4 News Conference
October 2, 2024NASA astronaut Tracy C. Dyson will hold a news conference on October 4 at 11 a.m. EDT to discuss her recent six-month mission aboard the International Space Station (ISS).
Dyson launched on March 23 and arrived at the ISS on March 25, completing her mission on September 23 alongside her crewmates, including Roscosmos cosmonauts Oleg Kononenko and Nikolai Chub.
During her 184-day mission, Dyson completed 2,944 orbits of the Earth and traveled a staggering 78 million miles as part of Expedition 70/71.
She conducted one spacewalk lasting 31 minutes, bringing her total career spacewalk time to 23 hours and 20 minutes across four missions.
Throughout her time at the ISS, Dyson engaged in various scientific and technology activities aimed at benefiting future space exploration and life on Earth.
Among her notable achievements, she remotely controlled a robot from the ISS and operated a 3D bioprinter to create cardiac tissue samples, contributing to potential organ and tissue replacement technology.
Dyson also worked on crystallizing model proteins to assess hardware for pharmaceutical production and ran a program using student-designed software to operate free-flying robots.
The upcoming conference will be broadcast live on NASA+ and the agency’s website, with streaming details available online.
Participants wishing to join the conference by phone must contact the newsroom at least two hours prior, and questions can be submitted via phone or social media using #AskNASA.
Media planning to attend the conference in person must reach out to the NASA Johnson newsroom by 5 p.m. on October 3.
