A launch of 24 Amazon Project Kuiper broadband satellites is scheduled for October 11, 2025, from Cape Canaveral, Florida, using a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket at 8:41 p.m. EDT, marking the third dedicated mission to this constellation.

The satellites will be released at an altitude of 289 miles (465 km) and then raised to 392 miles (630 km) for operational use.

Weather conditions have improved after days of heavy rain and flooding in the area, with a 95% chance of favorable conditions predicted, although there remains some risk of weather-related delays.

The launch weather is unlikely to improve during the October 11 window, but the Falcon 9's first stage will aim to land on a drone ship about eight minutes after liftoff, despite moderate-to-high risk of booster recovery weather issues.

This launch is part of a broader effort, with China building two large satellite networks, Guowang and Qianfan, each aiming to host around 13,000 satellites, highlighting global competition in broadband megaconstellations.

Other satellite constellations include SpaceX's Starlink, which has over 8,500 operational satellites and has conducted more than 90 launches in 2025.

This is the sixth launch supporting the Kuiper constellation, following three launches with United Launch Alliance Atlas 5 rockets and two with Falcon 9.

This mission aims to deploy satellites into a 392-mile altitude to help build Amazon's satellite internet network, which plans to eventually include over 3,200 satellites, similar to SpaceX's Starlink.

The deployment will occur more than 56 minutes after liftoff, completing the constellation to a total of 153 satellites in low Earth orbit, with initial health checks conducted mid-flight.

This launch marks SpaceX's 100th mission of the year, with the first stage booster B1091 making its second flight, previously launching during the August Kuiper mission, and expected to land on the droneship 'Just Read the Instructions' in the Atlantic Ocean.

The mission underscores SpaceX's significant role in deploying broadband satellite networks, with this launch being a milestone as their 100th launch of the year.
