Supported by prominent institutions such as Charité University Clinic Berlin, UCL London, and Yale University, Skleo’s goal is to enable earlier detection, improve treatment prioritization, and reduce the burden on healthcare systems.

Since its founding in March 2024, Skleo has expanded to Germany’s 50 largest cities, screening over 11,000 individuals and identifying more than 3,000 cases requiring medical attention, with growth facilitated through partnerships with optical chains, pharmacies, and corporate clients.

The recent €3 million funding round was led by Sanoptis, Europe's top ophthalmology services provider, alongside Antler VC and high-profile angel investors, reflecting strong industry confidence in Skleo’s innovative approach.

With the new funds, Skleo plans to increase its screening capacity to 30,000 per month, develop a nationwide platform connecting patients with eye specialists, and expand its partner network, including a strategic partnership with Sanoptis.

Skleo’s platform offers quick, six-minute preventive eye screenings at accessible locations like opticians, pharmacies, retail stores, and workplaces, with AI analysis complemented by licensed eye doctors to ensure accuracy.

The company aims to address the high prevalence of preventable eye conditions affecting 9.7 million Germans, such as glaucoma and diabetic eye disease, and to reduce long wait times for specialist appointments, which average 56 days.

By focusing on early detection and accessible screenings, Skleo seeks to save the sight of millions and alleviate the strain on healthcare systems through proactive prevention.
