India Launches Media Tech Incubator to Propel AVGC-XR Startups to Global Success
August 30, 2025
WaveX, the startup accelerator affiliated with India's Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, has launched a Media Tech Startup Incubator in partnership with the Indian Institute of Creative Technologies to support AVGC-XR startups across India.
The program is structured into two phases: an active phase focused on intensive business development and testing, followed by a passive phase aimed at global showcasing, investor engagement, and forming strategic partnerships.
Overseen by WaveX under the Ministry of I&B, the incubator conducts quarterly reviews and plans to support an initial cohort of 15 startups, with applications closing on September 7, 2025.
Ultimately, the incubator aims to help startups move from idea to commercialization, boosting India's presence in sectors like gaming, animation, XR, and digital media on the global stage.
This initiative seeks to position India as a global hub for creative technologies, fostering innovation, increasing international visibility for Indian startups, creating jobs, and strengthening India's role in the $100+ billion AVGC-XR industry.
This incubator offers comprehensive support, including mentorship, access to AV/digital labs and cloud services, business advisory, testing opportunities through government collaborations, and connections to investors.
Facilities provided include co-working spaces, production labs, high-speed internet, and cloud credits, complemented by masterclasses led by industry leaders from companies like Google, Microsoft, and Amazon.
