September 17, 2025
Vietnam is emerging as a prime destination for international startups, especially in high-tech and AI sectors, thanks to its cost efficiency, skilled workforce, and strategic location.
Recent events facilitated nearly 200 business-matching sessions, resulting in South Korean startups planning to launch products in Vietnam within the next 3 to 6 months and seeking local partners.
South Korean startups are being encouraged to invest seriously and understand the Vietnamese market to leverage the local ecosystem effectively for success.
Vietnam ranks 55th in the Global Startup Ecosystem Index 2025, maintaining its position as fifth in Southeast Asia, reflecting steady progress over the past three years.
The country currently hosts around 4,000 startups, many valued over $100 million, supported by over 200 venture funds, 80 incubators, 40 accelerators, and 20 business support centers.
Vietnam’s vibrant and fast-growing startup ecosystem benefits from government policies that offer tax exemptions, land lease incentives, and special programs for innovation centers and startups.
A delegation of 30 South Korean startups specializing in AI, edtech, fintech, gaming, and healthcare visited Hanoi on September 10 as part of the Vietnam Immersion Week Roadshow 2025, organized by South Korea’s Ministry of SMEs and Startups and Vietnam’s NIC.
Experts suggest that Vietnam should adopt policies like sandbox frameworks, shared infrastructure, and alignment with international AI standards to further support startup growth and facilitate market expansion.
