WT 3.0: Deeptech Startup Meet Fuels Biotech Innovation with NEXASWEET Launch and Investor Pitches

WT 3.0 builds on earlier editions that collectively backed more than 100 startups and drew a broad investor base, underscoring continued momentum in the accelerator program.
The WT 3.0 Startup-Investor Meet aimed to catalyze funding for Deeptech startups across Healthcare, Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Food, and Agritech, building on WT 1.0 and WT 2.0 which supported over 100 startups with 50+ investors.
The event aligns with national biotechnology priorities and showcases ongoing efforts to accelerate funding and commercialization for deeptech innovations in life sciences and related sectors.
Key speakers, including Dr. Uday Saxena, Dr. Markandeya Gorantla, Prof. Reddanna, and Dr. Taranjit Kaur from BIRAC, emphasized translating deep science into market-ready solutions.
Prof. Reddanna, Executive President of FABA, spoke on ecosystem dynamics and the critical success factors for biotech startups.
Dr. Taranjit Kaur from BIRAC/DBT highlighted BioE3’s mission in advancing India’s bio-economy.
From around eighty applications, WT shortlisted twenty startups for main pitches and selected fifty for networking/elevator pitches with investors.
Fifty startups pitched to investors and showcased products at kiosks, highlighting the breadth of technology and commercialization potential.
Ongoing collaboration with government bodies and industry associations was highlighted to promote biotechnology entrepreneurship and translational research.
Pitching startups demonstrated high Technology Readiness Levels, with many at post-POC or commercialized stages, focusing on Healthcare, Medical, Life Sciences, and Biotechnology.
WT 3.0 featured the launch of NEXASWEET, a stem-cell-attractant sweetener for gut health, marking a pipeline product and accelerator-led commercialization milestone.
NEXASWEET, Whale Tank’s stem cell attractant-based sweetener, was officially launched as a pipeline product with commercialization potential.
