Apple has found a software fix to disable the blood oxygen sensing feature in the Apple Watch.

The fix could potentially allow Apple to bypass an import ban imposed by the International Trade Commission (ITC).

U.S. Customs and Border Protection has determined Apple's redesign falls outside the scope of the remedial orders.

Imports can continue unless overruled by the ITC.

Apple has already shipped modified units but is awaiting approval before selling.

The watches can be sold again in the US and the changes won't affect existing owners.

The legal battle between Apple and Masimo is still ongoing.
