Ashley Paul Griffith, 46, is facing sentencing for a staggering 307 offences, including 28 counts of rape against young girls aged three to five, committed at childcare centres in Queensland over a 15-year span from 2007 to 2022.

In September 2023, Griffith pleaded guilty to over 300 charges involving 69 children, with his crimes dating back to 2003.

His offenses include ongoing sexual abuse and the creation of child exploitation material, affecting nearly 70 victims since 2003.

During the proceedings, it was revealed that Griffith filmed many of the assaults, using an iPad to distract the children while mocking them when they expressed discomfort.

The Director of Public Prosecutions, Todd Fuller, has called for a life sentence with an extended non-parole period, labeling the crimes as 'abhorrent' and difficult to articulate.

Judge Paul Smith characterized Griffith's actions as 'depraved,' emphasizing the 'significant harm' inflicted on victims, many of whom were between two and five years old.

Initially charged in August 2022 with two counts of making child exploitation material, Griffith's charges ballooned to over 1,600 after further evidence emerged.

The extensive charges against Griffith include 190 counts of indecent treatment, 28 counts of rape, and 67 counts of making child exploitation material.

Griffith has been in custody since his arrest in August 2022 and is eligible for parole in 2049, with additional charges pending for offenses in New South Wales from 2014 to 2018.
